The Clean Up Continues

I went out back this afternoon and helped Matt for a while.  We have so many tree limbs to clean up, rake and burn that it seems like we’ll never get it done.  I got the entire south corner of the yard all cleaned up - which will make my gay dogs happy because they can get to the fence once again to harass the joggers.  And yes, my dogs are gay.  Not only are they gay - they’re flaming.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.  :)  They did manage to chase a cat up a tree, though.  That’s sort of a straight dog kinda thing isn’t it?  Chasing cats?

It’s dinner time now and Matt is out burning still yet.  Time for me to fly for now and get my “starving” kids fed.

Here kitty kitty!  Can you imagine the shame of this poor cat to his cronies?  Chased up a tree by two gay dogs.

Mother Nature Is One Cold Bitch!

I always complain that we never get snow.  Seriously.  Never.  Even when there’s a front of snow on its way to our area, it will deliberately split before it gets to us and then rejoin on the other side.  I have witnesses, it’s all true.  So, when we were told we were going to be hit with the worst ice storm in decades, I believed it.  Why?  Because mother nature hates me.  She wouldn’t dare give me snow but by golly, she’s more than happy to dump a few inches of ice.  What a wench!  This storm was a catastrophe.  To date, there are still people that were hit that don’t have power.  Pitiful.  Here are a few pictures from the storm - mostly for archival purposes but you might enjoy them.  All of these were taken from our yard and street.  Any vehicles are ours - except for the little Escort, that’s my neighbor’s.  The first set will be from the first 24 hours and the second set from the last leg of the storm after 48 hours.

We no longer have this tree.  It broke off at the ground around 4 in the morning on day two.  It was our favorite tree.  :(

Here’s the power line that used to be attached to the street light in front of the house.  That pole broke in half and landed next to our neighbor’s little car.

Our favorite tree, day two.   :(

Our electrical service and cable - taken out by the favorite tree.

This is the crab apple tree from the first picture.  We lost half of this tree and most of the top.

Neighbor’s car + street lamp post.

We’re still in the process of cleaning it up.
